Capacity Planning

Establishing Baselines
Service Providers need to understand the normal behavior of any indicator before being able to evaluate exceptional behavior -  this is best achieved using automated baselining techniques. Visibility of usual levels each hour, over the period of a typical week can be built up by averaging levels from the previous weeks on a continually rolling basis.

By default, SevOne uses an automated rolling baseline approach which compares indicator performance for each hour of the week with the equivalent hour of the previous 10 weeks - giving a great indication of the normal behaviour of the environment. This approach is automatically applied to all indicators collected by SevOne appliances. In other words, our largest deployments are calculating literally billions of baselines every week.

SLA Management
Most service providers maintain contracts containing service level provisions with both their end customers and wholesale providers - these provisions need to be very carefully monitored on a continual basis to avoid costly breach penalties which can erode the tight margins typical of today's competitive market.
Having a solid, linearly scalable platform which reliably answers the following questions is vital:
•    How can I best monitor user and application response times to ensure contractual compliance?
•    How do I automate the provision of monitoring for new services?
•    How do I automate the retirement of monitoring for ceased services to prevent unnecessary operations effort?

SevOne has the scale, flexibility and ease-of-use necessary to monitor SLA performance for even the largest network estates.
