NetFlow Reporting

The SevOne NetFlow Reporting Engine—FlowFalcon—provides network engineers with a powerful Application and Network Performance Management tool for layer 3 and 4 analysis. Through a dynamic Web interface and without requiring the use of expensive and specialized inline probes, FlowFalcon delivers unprecedented depth and scalability. Originally developed by Cisco, NetFlow technology is quickly being adopted by many leading network equipment manufacturers and is currently being standardized by the IETF as IPFIX.

Going beyond simple utilization statistics (SNMP), FlowFalcon allows you to see the top talkers, top applications and top protocols on your network. Now network engineers can investigate traffic patterns in their network and drill down to individual conversations between any two network nodes.

NetFlow data is collected by the routers and is then forwarded on to SevOne FlowFalcon, which helps establish the root cause of performance degradation.

The NetFlow Reporting Engine provides for a breakdown of what host addresses generated the most traffic, using which application. This data is invaluable when troubleshooting congestion, poor performance, or network attacks. And with SevOne, NetFlow analysis is conveniently collected by a single device—without the need to dispatch a costly sniffer. Available reports include:

Top Talkers—displays a breakdown of the top n IP addresses that have generated the most traffic over this link
Top Applications—displays the top n applications that have consumed the most bandwidth on this link
Top Talkers with Applications—displays the top n IP / Application pairs
Top Conversations—displays the top n conversations that have consumed the most bandwidth—Source IP and port as well as destination IP and port

And many, many others. SevOne also gives users the ability to create custom NetFlow reporting templates, making the SevOne FlowFalcon the most versatile reporting engine in the industry
