A brief video that walks through the many features of the alerts console.
In this video we're going to cover the alerts console. This page shows all active alerts within SevOne. To get here simply go to the events tab at the top and down to alerts. Now by default you're going to see pretty much everything that is currently active in the system. To help give us some context, we can apply a number of filters. Don't be too bothered by the amount of, I guess, emergency alerts you see here. We keep our demo environments fairly noisy for various work flows that we show to prospects and clients alike. What I can do is say well maybe I only want to see anything below critical in nature. I can apply this filter and suddenly only error and below conditions will be displayed here. Again I can search for particular strings within the message. A few other fields here as well. Select particular devices, device groups. For example, I could say show me everything in the Cisco group. Apply the filter and these devices exist in the Cisco group and then object groups as well.
Once you have the list of current active alerts you can select any one of interest. The fields down here will populate. You can drill into the device itself using our out of the box device summary or a template you define. Same goes for the object as well. Out of the box or a user defined template. You can look at the actual threshold condition as it's defined within the system. Then you have a few actions you can apply. You can acknowledge the alert. This will clear it out of the system. However, if the alert is found to be in violation or the condition is triggered again the alert will reappear. If you want to suppress this for a period of time you're actually going to want to select ignore and then select for how long. That's one way to deal with known issues within the system. Then finally you can also sign this to individuals if you have missions to do so by selecting their name and then hitting assign. Any of these items can be selected and then exported as a CSV, PDF, or turn off into a dashboard.
