The most common use case of big data analytics for IT organizations was capacity planning, specifically capacity planning for storage technology, capacity planning for servers, and then third would've been capacity planning for networks. Large majorities of enterprises are doing all three of those, storage the most.
Planning and engineering obviously was the area that was most impacted. But at the same time a slight majority of enterprises were also doing, using big data analytics to enhance their infrastructure monitoring as well, specifically around networks, storage, and servers again. That was probably the second biggest area where they're leveraging the technology. There is a lot of troubleshooting activity as well, but nothing, no specific use case jumped out as dominant. However, isolating infrastructure problems to storage systems was probably one of the biggest most common troubleshooting use cases of big data analytics for IT organizations.
