One of the paramount challenges faced in the virtualization is the cutting across of what has been traditionally well-defined boundaries between technologies and approaches. According to Kenneth Dilbeck, the only way successful, realizable implementations are going to come out of this environment is if there's a great deal of cooperation between different standardizations within organizations.

One of the biggest challenges we see as we move into this virtualized space is that we're reaching across what has been traditionally, pretty well understood boundaries between technologies and between approaches. The TM believes that the only way successful, realizable implementations are going to come out of this environment is if there's a great deal of cooperation between different standardizations, organizations.

We believe that there are groups that have very strong expertise in certain areas whether it be groups like ONF or if it be groups like DMTF and IETF that they have very, very strong domain knowledge. That domain knowledge and the requirement for that domain knowledge does not go away.

The problem complexity is going to be such that we need to work together. I know that the forum has a very strong liaison relationship with a number of these groups. We're working together very aggressively with them. We'd like to be able to make that occur even more pragmatically and look at how do we focus on specific problem areas and work together within the standards organizations to deliver solutions to the industry as rapidly as we can.
