Last night, I accepted an award on behalf of everyone at SevOne. We made Deloitte’s 2011 Greater Philadelphia Fast 50 ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in the Greater Philadelphia region. Not only that, but we are NUMBER TWO!
We at SevOne are honored to say the least. This year’s list included other very prominent Philadelphia area companies, such as AstraZeneca, Comcast and myYearbook.com. We are thrilled to be a part of this group, as we look at what they’ve become and what we’re striving to be.
For me receiving this award is an even greater honor on a personal level. After graduating from the University of Delaware, my first job was at Deloitte and Touche LLP as an Enterprise Risk IT Auditor. Although I passed my CPA, it was IT that I was most excited about. I loved working there, travelling and visiting many Fortune 500 companies as well as all the friends I made. Two years later, I was at a crossroads. I had the opportunity to join SevOne in its beginning stages.
Was I crazy to leave the stability of Deloitte for a company comprised of four people, two of which were interns? Probably, but I did it anyway. The hard work that it took for me to earn my position at Deloitte, helped me in my role at SevOne. What I brought with me besides innumerable technical skills was the culture focused on the world class service to the customer. Even at this nascent stage customers never felt they were dealing with anything less than a global organization. Another aspect of Deloitte I brought with me was the work hard play hard mentality. This meshed incredibly well with the shorts and flip flop mentality of our developers, QA and Support who often times have have a Frisbee game in the middle of the day but are always willing to work late into the night to finish or enhance our product and its important features.
So last night was more for me than just a glass plaque to place on a desk. (Which by the way, I accidentally dropped as I walked off the stage! At least it was memorable.) Last night, I realized that joining SevOne was the biggest, yet most rewarding risk I ever took, and who better to commend us on our success than Deloitte. It felt like a homecoming and I was proud to be there!
In addition to being ranked number two in the Greater Philadelphia Area, SevOne was also ranked as a 2011 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Company. On this list we ranked as number 30 in North America.
2011, has been a whirlwind year for SevOne. We blogged earlier this year about winning the PACT Award and were listed on the Inc. 500 List of fastest growing private companies. It feels great to get this recognition from such a world class organization, and to know how much growth we have ahead of us.
