Enterprises and Service Providers Benefit from Simplified Usability, Increased Reporting Speed, Customizable Dashboards and Service Level Management
Newark, DE — December 1, 2009 —SevOne, a leading provider of advanced network performance management solutions for optimized application delivery, today announced version 4.0 of its multi award-winning Performance Appliance Solution (PAS). PAS 4.0 includes a wide range of usability and performance enhancements designed to help enterprises and managed service providers (MSP) simplify the process of identifying and repairing critical network problems while meeting service level agreements and objectives. These enhancements have made NetFlow easier to use in combination with other performance data.
According to Gartner Analysts Debra Curtis and Will Cappelli, “NetFlow has grown in popularity as a reliable and inexpensive data source that many network managers are using to augment their network intelligence with details about the distribution of protocols and the makeup of application traffic on the network. Ongoing traffic analysis enables reallocation of network resources to higher-priority users or applications, without the need for additional capital investment, using bandwidth allocation, traffic engineering and quality-of-service techniques.”
SevOne’s PAS 4.0 provides an easy to use NetFlow reporting capability viewed in a simple customizable dashboard, which also consolidates granular performance data from SNMP, IP-SLA, VOIP, NBAR, WMI, HTTP, DNS, or any user generated statistical data into a single view. This enables Network Managers to reduce costs, increase productivity and assure service levels.
New features of SevOne’s PAS 4.0 release include:
- User Interface:The PAS 4.0 interface is the most intuitive and easiest-to-use to date. The tool’s reporting engine has been enhanced enabling users to add, drag, resize, edit, or remove reporting widgets on the fly. Reporting widgets can also be instantly converted to PDF.
- Dashboard:The new PAS 4.0 dashboard is fully customizable and can be defined for various audiences (executives, managers, administrators, and operators). It also includes access controls, which are especially useful for managed service providers who need custom views for individual customers. SevOne consolidates granular performance data from various data sources such as NetFlow, SNMP, VoIP, IP SLA, NBAR and WMI onto this unified dashboard. The reports display real-time data and can be easily marked as “favorites” by either the users or the administrators.
- Reduced Bandwidth:SevOne has reduced the inter-appliance bandwidth by 10 times. This feature is extremely useful to customers with multiple network appliances. SevOne’s unique peer to peer (patent pending) architecture eliminated the inherent reporter bottleneck of legacy collector/reporter architectures. The PAS 4.0 inter-appliance bandwidth breakthrough widens the gap between old, legacy slow architectures and SevOne’s fast, scalable architecture.
“For our environment, the most important capabilities of a network performance management system are usability and speed of network performance reporting,” said Michael Adams, Operations Manager, Wilmington University. "PAS 4.0 includes significant enhancements that enable us to easily customize our SevOne PAS dashboard to proactively avoid problems, quickly troubleshoot, and plan for the future."
“PAS 4.0 addresses key customer requirements for a sophisticated, yet simple user interface with customized dashboard views,” said Vess Bakalov, chief technology officer at SevOne. “We work very closely with our customers to understand their specific needs and our technology architecture allows us to implement key features to meet those needs in a compressed time frame.”
