It's not every day the mayor comes to visit, but Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter joined the SevOne crew in March to celebrate the opening of our new office at 1400 Chestnut Street. Philly isn't a new location for us, but we outgrew our old space and needed more room for the team. While the old office held 15 employees, the new one is larger with an open layout and room for 55. Currently we have 30 Philadelphia employees, but we expect to grow to 50 by the end of the year. Our total headcount doubled in 2013 to 270 employees. At the same time, Forbes Magazine named SevOne one of America's Most Promising Companies.
“I’m excited and pleased to welcome SevOne to its new expanded offices on Chestnut Street,” said Mayor Nutter at the ribbon-cutting event. “The continued growth of SevOne is yet more proof that Philadelphia is a hotbed for high technology and innovation.”
While the mayor was on site at SevOne to officially open the new Philly office, he also took the opportunity to announce the winners of the second Startup PHL Call for Ideas Awards. The program provides grants for entrepreneurial projects in the region, and the most recent round of awards focused on student engagement with Philadelphia's tech community. The recipients announced included PenApps Fellows Internship Program, Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, Zivtech Developer Boot Camp, NextFab Fellows Coop Program, and Technical.ly/Philly Startup Leaders.
At SevOne, we're doing our part to boost the fast-growing technology community in Philadelphia. The developer talent in the region makes for a strong recruiting pool, and we're happy to add new job opportunities to the mix. One of our prominent customers is also located in Philly, and we're now only several blocks down the street from Comcast headquarters. Glad to be part of the neighborhood.
