SevOne Telemetry Solution

The model for producing and collecting network performance data hasn’t changed much since the late 1980s, when SNMP-instrumented network devices were first available on the market. SNMP has been the gold standard for network performance monitoring for many years, and enables external management systems to periodically poll devices for their latest management data, typically once every five minutes.

This model was adequate in the days of static networks, but in today’s world of virtualized and intent-based networks, relying solely on 5-minute polling can pose visibility, scale, and efficiency limitations.  Accurate and timely performance data is critical for continuous operations, where seconds matter. SNMP’s poll-based architecture needs to evolve.

To address these challenges, popular network equipment providers including Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Nokia, Ciena, and others have implemented the Google Network Management Interface (gNMI) tech-stack to “push” performance data as a stream of telemetry. With the SevOne Telemetry Solution, we can request specific network telemetry data be sent as frequently as every second, and then visualize it integrated as part of the same dashboards as their polled data.

Designed for efficiency, security, and reliability – the SevOne Telemetry Solution includes purpose-built software collectors and a next-generation analysis engine to lead the network performance management industry’s adoption of network streaming telemetry technologies like gNMI, OpenConfig and NetConf. Currently supporting specific versions of Cisco IOS and Juniper JunOs, the SevOne Telemetry Solution is in active development and available to present to SevOne customers as a “Private Preview.”
